What Is a Confirmation ID (CID)?
A Confirmation ID (CID) is a unique numeric code generated by Microsoft’s activation servers. It represents the final step in the phone activation process. Once entered into the activation wizard on your PC, your Microsoft product becomes fully activated and ready to use.
Phone activation—also known as offline activation—serves as a reliable alternative to online activation. It is particularly useful if your PC has no internet connection, if online activation fails, or if you are activating a volume license or reusing a key that requires reactivation.
Here’s how the process works: your device generates an Installation ID (IID), which you submit through an activation channel (phone, online tool, or our GETCID service). Microsoft then returns a corresponding Confirmation ID, which you enter to complete the activation process.
